Just before half-time Martin O’Dowd scored a beauty to put Ryton ahead.

Eight minutes into the second half, Mason Stephenson scored a great goal, giving Armin no chance, to make it 3-1. City stay eighth.

Title-chasing Northallerton Town hosted Bedlington Terriers, but surprisingly lost 2-0, with the visitors claiming three vital points, giving them a three-point cushion over third-bottom Darlington RA in the survival battle.

The first goal came in the 25th minute when Jack Foalle beat goalkeeper Tom Dawson.

Foalle broke away to score his second in stoppage time at the end of the game.

The four other scheduled matches were all postponed because of waterlogged pitches.
