Nissan has signed a sponsorship deal for Premier League TV coverage.
The car giant, which employs more than 6,000 people on Wearside, has agreed to a three-year partnership deal to sponsor Sky Sports’ Premier League coverage.
As part of the agreement they will become the exclusive weekend sponsor of Premier League action including every game shown on Saturday lunchtime and all the games that form Sky Sports’ celebrated Super Sundays.
In the Republic of Ireland, this also means games broadcast on Saturday at 3pm.
In addition to live TV, Nissan will be the sole sponsor of all the Premier League previews, reviews, editorial articles, stats, facts and figures on Sky Sports.com.
Speaking about the new partnership with Sky Sports Chris Marsh, Marketing Director at Nissan GB commented; “Innovation and excitement are at the heart of what we do at Nissan, and as we saw last season the unexpected nature of the Premier League makes it one of the most exciting football leagues in the world. This coming season is sure to be one of the most hotly anticipated in years. Sky Sports offers customers more of the biggest, most exciting games than other providers. It’s just one of the reasons why this partnership is such a perfect match for Nissan.”
Nissan’s partnership was agreed with Sky Media, the advertising sales arm of Sky, and begins with the new Premier League season in August 2016, and runs to July 2019.
John Litster, Sky Media MD, said: “The Premier League’s 25-year relationship with Sky Sports has helped to create the world’s most popular domestic league. Sky Sports is highly complementary with Nissan, and we look forward to a truly great partnership.”
