The Black Cats’ boss currently only has one striking option as Josh Maja leads the line while new signings Charlie Wyke and Jerome Sinclair recover from injury.

But Ross is keen to rectify that, and is searching for new recruits ahead of the loan window closing on August 31.

Signing established players may prove tough for the Sunderland manager, who has already hinted at the fact that he might have to turn to younger Premier League players looking for game time and experience.
