A HOSPITAL has unveiled a new MRI scanner which replaces a mobile service.

The new equipment, at the Spire Washington Hospital, comes as part of wide-ranging investment into the private hospital’s facilities.

MRI scanners can help avoid more invasive procedures, such as surgery and complements other techniques used in radiology, such as a CT scan or X-ray.

Access to the scanner is now seven days a week.

Mark Pendleton, new imaging services manager, said: “Speedy access to our scanner and consultants mean people know very quickly what the problem is and can receive prompt and appropriate treatment.”
