Clare said: “This is functional fitness gym which is aimed at everyone.

“It is classes-only and is a very different kind of workout, as you have to be trained and supervised when you do it.”

John, who is a qualified CrossFit instructor, will be leading the classes of up to 15 people.

The classes are limited in number to ensure everyone has enough attention.

John, who has been a fitness instructor for three years in the Durham area, said: “It is a fantastic opportunity to promote health and fitness to all ages, especially younger children, with our children’s class on weekends.”

“CrossFit is an American fitness class which has come over here and is doing really well.”

Clare added: “We aim to cater to members’ needs by running sessions before and after work, Monday to Friday, with taster classes on a Saturday.

“Thursday and Friday classes will teach the fundamentals of CrossFit to anybody new to it, to build their confidence so they can move into a class.”
