A WEARSIDE group has shown its support for people of Palestine.
As fighting continues in the Middle East, with Israel launching air strikes on Gaza, nearly 60 people gathered at Sunderland Bangladeshi Community Centre for the inaugural meeting of the city’s Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC).
Almost £100 in donations was collected. The group has formed a committee and is planning further fund-raising activities.
Gary Duncan, one of the committee members, said: “Almost 60 people from a wide range of backgrounds came together to voice their horror and disgust at the Israeli state’s barbaric attacks on the Palestinian people.
“The Sunderland PSC branch is part of a growing international movement opposed to the brutal occupation of Palestine and military attacks on Gaza.”
The group is also calling on people to boycott Israeli products.
