A MARATHON prayer session will be led by the newly-appointed Bishop of Durham tomorrow.
Sunderland Minster will host the four-hour long event as part of the Right Rev Justin Welby’s tour of his diocese, meeting people and sharing his words.
The minster will also be holding a host of activities for the community to enjoy during the Bishop’s visit.
From 10am to 10.45am, Bishop Justin will be holding a Create a Prayer workshop, where mums and their children can enjoy play and prayer.
At 11am, noon and 1pm, the minster will be filled with music from Benedict Biscop Primary School, Sunderland University and the Worship Band from Venerable Bede School.
There will also be a series of prayer sessions focusing on different themes throughout the day.
Reverend Martin Anderson, of Sunderland Minster, said: “The themes for prayer throughout the day will be focusing on education, global issues, social justice and praying for Sunderland and the region.
“There will also be prayers for commerce and industry, employment, the economic climate and the political landscape of the North East at the moment.”
Everyone is welcome to join in with the prayer sessions.
A live feed of the session will also be screened on the minster wall and can be followed at www.facebook.com/Prayerofthepeople.
