A CHURCHGOER from Sheffield is to become the national vice-president of a religious denomination.

Marion Baker, the wife of a former Unitarian minister, is to be installed as the national vice-president of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches at a ceremony on Sunday, April 14, at Nottingham University.

Marion is a member of the congregation at Upper Chapel in Sheffield city centre, and is the President of its Women’s League.

She is a former member of the British Unitarian Choir.

Her husband Ernest was minister at Underbank Unitarian Chapel, Stannington, Sheffield, from 1981 until his retirement in 2006.

Until her retirement Marion was a civil servant with the Department of Work and Pensions.
