A MOTHER is taking the plunge to raise money for charity.

Social worker Catherine Roberts, 36, of Chester-le-Street, will do the Grasmere Channel Swim, in the Lake District, in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust on Saturday, July 7.

Swimmers can choose a 1km or 2km route.

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK’s most common, life-threatening inherited diseases and claims two lives a week.

The money raised will help the trust fund vital research.
