A SUNDERLAND MP has backed calls to safeguard services for tinnitus sufferers.
Washington and Sunderland West MP Sharon Hodgson is supporting Action on Hearing Loss’s call for NHS commissioners to protect services such as hearing therapy and ear, nose and throat (ENT) treatments.
Mrs Hodgson said: “Around 10 per cent of adults have mild tinnitus, which can have debilitating effects on sleep, personal relationships, work and mental health.
“It’s vital that local people with tinnitus have quick access to life-changing support, so I’m delighted to back Action on Hearing Loss’s call for local ENT and hearing therapy services to be protected.”
Paul Breckell, chief executive of Action on Hearing Loss, said: “We are grateful for Sharon’s support for our campaigning.”
