RAOUL Moat’s ex-girlfriend Samantha Stobbart relived the night the gunman shot her and killed her new boyfriend.
The 22-year-old wept in the witness box as she spoke publicly for the first time of the horrors of that night.
Miss Stobbart was giving evidence in the trial of Karl Ness, 26, and Qhuram Awan, 23, who are accused of being the gunman’s accomplices during his days on the run after the shootings.
Ness denies the murder of Miss Stobbart’s new boyfriend Christopher Brown.
Prosecutors claim he was in the vicinity on the night of the shootings and had helped Moat plan the execution of his love rival.
Ness and Awan jointly deny conspiring with Moat to kill police officers, the attempted murder of Pc David Rathband as well as robbery and firearm charges.
The pair claim they were hostages, not accomplices of the gunman.
Miss Stobbart, who had her brown hair pinned back and was dressed in black, told jurors Moat had a “split personality”.
She told jurors she had falsely told Moat her new boyfriend was a police officer.
She said: “I saw Raoul jump up, I think he came from the window. He just appeared. He had a gun.
“I didn’t see the gun at first. I saw him load the gun.
“He pointed the gun at my legs and I ran into the house. I remember panicking because my daughter was upstairs.
“I was shot. I didn’t fall to the ground straight away, it took about 20 seconds.”
The trial continues.
