Mill View storm to the top of league with win over Officials

Mill View B secured a 4-1 win at home against Murton Officials which has seen them go top of the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League Division Two by one point.

Adrian Daniel edged out Robin Midson in a 70 minute frame, before Colin Dobson levelled the match.

John Spruce moved Mill View back into the lead before Steve Chandler controlled the fourth frame.

Adrian Daniels/John Spruce teamed up to claim the pairs frame 52-11.

Lumley A travelled to The Victory and started well with Paul Stoves winning the first frame and Stephen Rushworth claimed the second frame.

Darren Dowell started the comeback for The Victory, winning the third frame.

Ray James had a 22 break to help win the fourth frame before teaming up with Darren Dowell to complete the comeback and a 3-2 victory.

The match between Seaham Conservatives and Mill View A was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Mill View took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Dean Taylor got Pennywell Comrades off to a good start away at Railway winning on the final black, before Joe Beston levelled the match.

Joe Turner won the third frame before Gary Tuner won the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Pennywell won another black ball frame with Stephen Smith/Stuart Taylor beating Tony Grimes/Gary Turner 62-55 for the 3-2 win.

After last week’s excellent result against Lumley, Murton Colliery welcomed Cheemas and continued their good form with a 5-0 win.

In Division One, leaders South Hylton’s match at home to Green Baize was postponed and due to not giving the required notice, Green Baize are fined and docked seven points.

With Hylton not playing, it gave Washington Snooker A a chance to close the gap at the top.

Away at Biddick B, Stephen Thompson got Washington off to a good start.

Peter Mills levelled before John Temple moved Biddick into the lead. Gavin Dixon levelled the match before teaming up with Stephen Thompson to complete the comeback, winning the pairs 57-47 for a 3-2 win.

Elsewhere in the league, Whitburn stormed to a 4-1 victory over Washington Snooker B, Glendale also claimed a 4-1 win when they took on Biddick A.

Finally, Lumley B edged out Steels 3-2 with Sean Henderson/Andrew Drinkwater sealing the victory when winning the pairs.
