Men deny attempted armed robbery at Sunderland Post Office
Kevin Jarvis and George Tumilty are accused of holding up a branch at Hylton Road in Sunderland last month.
Police had been called to the premises after a reports of a raid by two men who, it was claimed, demanded money from staff while carrying a gun.

Hide AdIt claimed the weapon was fired before the men left empty handed.
Kevin Jarvis, 45, of Garfield Street, and George Tumilty, 31, of Flodden Road, both Sunderland, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court and denied all charges in relation to the armed raid.
Jarvis, who appeared at court in person, pleaded not guilty to two charges of attempted robbery and one of possessing a prohibited firearm.
Tumilty, who appeared via video link to HMP Holme House, denied the same charges.
Both men face a trial by jury on June 28.
Jarvis was granted conditional bail in the meantime and Tumilty was remanded in custody.
