Manchester United loanee Adnan Januzaj reveals his targets at Sunderland this season

It has been a whirlwind few days for Sunderland's fourth signing of the summer, with the 21-year-old arriving on a season-long loan.

The deal was announced Friday lunchtime, with Januzaj making his Sunderland debut from the bench against Manchester City just over 24-hours later.

The winger burst onto the scene two years ago, on the back of an outstanding performance against Sunderland, but his career has stalled.

Now he is looking to get back on track on Wearside.

"My job is to score goals and assist goals," said Januzaj.

"The fans come to the stadium to enjoy football and watch players that make things happen, so I want to be one of those players and make them happy.

"David Moyes was key to me coming here and I appreciate the opportunity because I want to show people what I can do."

The Belgian international made his top-flight debut in September 2013, back when Moyes was manager at Manchester United.

He scored twice against the Black Cats on his first start and is now looking to reproduce that level of form for Sunderland.

Januzaj was named on the bench at the Etihad Stadium but entered the action after 64 minutes, replacing Duncan Watmore.

He played a role in the build-up to Jermain Defoe's equaliser before Pep Guardiola's side eventually scored the winner via the head of Sunderland's Paddy McNair.

Januzaj, though, felt his new side produced a positive performance overall on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign.

"Everything was done really quick," he added.

"I met up with the team [Friday] and played in the game, and it was an unlucky game for us because we played well and worked hard for each other.

"It was a great feeling to play especially against such a big club, and although it was not easy I think we did really well," Januzaj told the club website.

The winger spent part of last season on loan with German giants Borussia Dortmund, gaining further experience in European competition.
