Man threatened to jump from Sunderland bridge

EMERGENCY services were called to a Sunderland bridge after a man threatened to jump into the River Wear.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “At 2.40pm this afternoon, police received a report of concerns for a man on the wrong side of the railings on Wearmouth Bridge.

“Officers attended and spoke to the man, who is now on the right side of the railings.”
