Man taken to hospital after emergency services called to Seaham beach

A man has been taken to hospital after falling ill at Seaham beach.

Emergency services were called to Seaham beach at around 10.30am on Tuesday, September 8, after a man in his 60s became unwell.

Sunderland and Seaham Coastguard Rescue Teams assisted the North East Ambulance Service at the scene.

The man was then taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 10.33am to a patient who was unwell at Seaham beach.

"We sent a double crewed ambulance and two Hazardous Area Response Teams to the scene.

"One man, believed to be in his 60s, was transported to Sunderland Royal Hospital.”

A Sunderland Coastguard spokesman added: “On arrival the casualty was already being assessed by paramedics.

"Coastguard officers assisted recovering the casualty into the awaiting ambulance where they were taken to hospital for further checks.”
