Man suffers serious injuries after being knocked out in North East street
A man suffered serious facial and arm injuries after he was knocked unconscious in a robbery.
A 23-year-old man was attacked between 7:15am and 7:30am on Wednesday while walking in Portobello Way, Birtley.
He cannot recall seeing anyone approach him and the only thing he remembers is being helped up from the ground by a passer-by.
He was robbed of £20 and required hospital treatment for his injuries.
