A man suffered a broken leg after being assaulted in a Sunderland bar.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 53-year-old man was assaulted in Sinatra's bar, in Holmeside, at 9pm on Saturday.

The man was assaulted by two men, according to the police, causing him to suffer a broken leg, and he is currently in hospital for treatment.

The first offender is described as male, dark skinned or mixed race, aged mid 30s to early 40s, with a bald head, slim to medium build. He is described as 5ft 7in tall, wearing a red/cherry coloured puffa jacket, washed out denim jeans and trainers.

The second offender is described as male, white, wearing a white shirt with a blue or black checked pattern.

Officers are carrying out inquiries and are appealing for witnesses.
