Man stole nail kit, Transformers and Care Bear from Wilko's in Sunderland

The following cases have been dealt with at Sunderland Magistrates' Court.

Peter Stead, 32, of Murton Street, Sunderland, admitted stealing a Kiss Gel Nail kit, two Transformers toys and a Care Bear, worth £65, from Wilko’s on October 5. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and was told to pay compensation of £65, victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £20.

Dominic Carvalho, 25, of Western Hill, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to stealing a £39.99 sweatshirt from Footlocker on January 5, and a freeview box worth £50 from Maplin, on January 11. He was given a 24-month conditional discharge and was told to pay £89.99 in compensation, a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of 85.

Gemma Pearson, 31, of Byland Court, Washington, admitted two counts of benefit fraud, between December 8, 2014, and May 24, 2015, and between November 18, 2014, and May 29, 2015. She dishonestly failed to notify Sunderland City Council and the Department for Work and Pensions that her partner was working, which would have affected her claims for housing benefit and income support. She was fined £80 and was told to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Kayleigh Beattie, 28, of Buddle Terrace, Sunderland, admitted stealing £252.70 worth of razor blades from Wilko’s on January 17, and a Worx multi-tool worth £75 from B&Q on January 18. She was given a 12-month community order, with 25 days specified activity. She was also told to pay 252.70 in compensation and was banned from B&Q stores for a year.

Chelsea Connolly, 25, of Kyloe Place, Bedlington, Northumberland, admitted drink-driving an Audi A3 on Wessington Way on January 18, with 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit being 35. She was fined £80 and was told to pay victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85 and was banned from driving for 18 months.
