Man stabbed after masked men raid his home in early hours attack

At about 2.30am yesterday, the victim, a 21-year-old man was in bed with his partner, a 21-year-old woman, when the burglars struck.

After attacking the victim, the assailants stole keys to his BMW car and escaped from the house in Abington, Ouston, near Chester-le-Street, in the vehicle.

The victim was treated for stab injuries at the RVI in Newcastle. He has now been discharged from hospital.

Detective Constable Lindsay Guest said: “Incidents of this nature are extremely rare and we do not believe those involved pose a risk to the wider community.”
