Officers are investigating an assault that saw a 68-year-old woman pushed over have released an image of man they would like to trace.

The incident happened at 3.10pm on Saturday, May 28, in Rectory Park, in Houghton.

The woman was carrying out some volunteer work in the park, when a man pushed her over after she asked him not to pick flowers.

Officers are keen to trace the man pictured as it is believed he was in the park at the time and may be able to help police with their enquiries.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 806 of 280516.
