Man in serious condition as teenager is bailed over alleged town centre assault
The 54-year-old was out in the town with his wife and friends, and at about 8.30pm, it appears they became involved in a dispute with a number of youths.
The incident took place on Front Street, in the vicinity of the Queens Head and Subway premises, according to Durham Police.

Hide AdThe man, who lives locally, fell to the ground after being assaulted, say the police, and was taken to hospital by ambulance with a serious head injury.
The following day, police arrested and interviewed a 16-year-old youth from the area in relation to the assault, and they have since been released on bail.
Inspector Paul Gray said: “An investigation is ongoing and we are following up a number of potential leads.
“If there is anyone who was in the area on Saturday night and may have witnessed what happened, I would urge them to come forward and help our inquiries.”
