Man remanded in custody for alleged assault

Kevin Blades, 49, was arrested yesterday and last night charged with a section 18 wounding - grevious bodily harm.

He went before magistrates today at Peterlee and was remanded in custody until his next appearance, which will be at Durham Crown Court on April 7.

The incident happened at the Dalton Park Inn, which is on Ada Street in Murton, on Tuesday evening. The victim, who is 54, received serious but not life-threatening injuries and has been detained in hospital.
