Man released following arrest over rape allegation in Sunderland
A man arrested after a rape allegation was reported to police has been released.
Northumbria Police launched an investigation after receiving a report of a rape at an address in the Silksworth area of Sunderland on Wednesday, July 18.
The force confirmed yesterday that a man was arrested in connection with their enquiries and say it is believed those involved are known to each other.
The man has now been released under investigation.
A spokesman for the force said: "A man has been released under investigation.
"Inquiries are ongoing into the incident."
