Man in critical condition after being hit by bus in Newcastle

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 41-year-old man was struck by a bus in NewcastleÂ city centre.

The incident happened at 10.40pm last night in Westgate Road.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he is in a critical condition.

The collision happened just outside the Union Rooms.

The road was closed for a short time to allow emergency services to deal with the incident and has since re-opened.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses.
