Police were called out to Sunderland’s Wearmouth Bridge last night after concerns were raised for a man.
The Sunderland Coastguard team attended the scene, as did officers from Northumbria Police, at about 11.30pm.
The man was eventually brought to safety.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “At 11.26pm on Wednesday, May 17, police received a report of concern for a man on Wearmouth Bridge, Sunderland.
“Officers attended the scene and the man was brought to safety by 12.15am.”
