Man brought to safety after clifftop alert for emergency services

A man is in the care of the ambulance service after concern was raised for his welfare at the top of a cliff.

Police, paramedics and members of Seaham and Hartlepool's Coastguard teams were called to an area near to Featherbed Rocks, off North Road in Seaham, at around 6pm following a report.

The incident was brought to a close at 9.30pm, when the man was brought to safety.

He is now being given care by the North East Ambulance Service.
