Man assaulted pensioner in car park

TWO good Samaritans came to the rescue of a pensioner who was punched in a car park.

The 68-year-old man was walking back to his car at Sainsbury’s car park in Washington when a black Ford Fiesta parked next to his vehicle, hitting his car door.

The male passenger started shouting at the man before punching him in the face.

Police believe two women witnessed the assault and helped.

They are keen to speak to the women, who may be able to help identify the attacker.

They were thought to be in their 50s. One had dark hair and the other had white hair.

The passenger is described as about 40 years old, of medium build and with short brown hair. A woman was driving.

The attack took place at about 11.30am on Friday, January 28.
