Man accused of murder of David Wilson has court hearing delayed

A man who was due to appear before court accused of the murder of a Wearside grandfather has had his hearing delayed.

Daniel Johnson, 20, formerly of Morris Street, Gateshead, was charged with murder following the death of David Wilson.

He was due to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates' Court today - but due to an issue with paperwork his hearing has been delayed.

On Sunday, December 14, 2014, 49-year-old Mr Wilson was found dead inside an address in Southwick Road, Sunderland.

A 35-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder, who had been on bail for several months, will face no further action through the police inquiry.

Popular Mr Wilson was originally from Hetton and had only lived at the Southwick Road flat for a number of weeks before his death.

He had previously lived in Sunderland city centre.

Johnson, who remains in custody, is expected to go before Sunderland Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
