Mainsforth replace South Hetton in North East Premier League

Ferryhill-based Mainsforth Cricket Club will join the North East Premier League's First Division this summer, replacing South Hetton.

Keith Robson, the league chairman, said: “We welcome Mainsforth Cricket Club to the NEPL and would like to thank the Durham Cricket Board and the Durham Cricket League for their assistance in making this happen.

“Mainsforth have excellent facilities and will be playing in all our senior and junior competitions except the Midweek League and the Banks Shield. We have agreed to a request from South Hetton Cricket Club that they continue to take part in these competitions.

“The 2016 season starts on April 16 and we are all looking forward immensely to a summer of highly competitive league and cup cricket.”

South Hetton finished bottom of the table last season, while Mainsforth were runners-up to Esh Winning in the Durham Cricket League’s First Division.
