LIVEN up your Bank Holiday Weekend by hitting the streets.

Durham Streets Summer Festival will see the cream of street performers, from buskers and acrobats to jugglers and daredevils, wow the crowds with agility, stunts, skills and nerve.

The gigs are free but festival-goers are encouraged to reward the performances by dropping money into the hat.

The action kicks off tomorrow in Millennium Place at 11.30am with The Mighty Gareth with his horror circus. An eclectic mixture of performers will then entertain the crowds until 4pm.

There will also be shows running tomorrow at Palace Green from 2pm to 4pm.

An Off-Streets programme, which will take place from noon to 6pm tomorrow and Sunday, sees street performers perform mini-shows to entertain shoppers and diners in many of the city’s bars and cafes in Old Elvet, Saddler Street, North Road and more.

And throughout the weekend, an innovative live artwork event, The Big Windoodle, will see a number of talented urban artists turning their attention from walls to windows by creating a temporary collection of artworks sited in the windows of shops and businesses across the city centre.

More than ten businesses, including City Attic in North Road and East in Saddler Street have temporarily donated their window space to artists. Meanwhile, live music will also take place from 10am to 10pm tomorrow at pop-up store, Hot Potato Records in North Road.

Effie, Andrew Lips and Laura Beth Salter will be performing twenty minute acoustic sets at the store, which are free to attend.
