Love is in the air as man proposes to girlfriend at Sunderland Airshow

Julia accepted Dave's proposal after host Ray Spencer popped the question on his behalf from the stage during the after-show entertainment on Saturday night.

Forty-five-year-old Dave, from Shildon, and Julia, 38, from Alnwick, first got together almost two decades ago.

"We went out with each other 18 years ago, then we parted and got back together 18 year later," said Dave.

"I've been thinking about this for 18 years."

And how did Julia feel when she heard Ray's question?

"I was over the moon," she said.
