Moyes has brought his send-bottom Sunderland side to second-top Liverpool today for a daunting Premier League test.

But the man once in charge of the blue half of Merseyside has been given a warm welcome by Klopp on the other side of Stanley park.

"I know David is no stranger to this wonderful city, having enjoyed a great time with our neighbours Everton for such a long period.

"I have been told on a number of occasions that during that period he showed great support to the families of those who lost their lives at Hillsborough and for that he is held in high regard at Liverpool also.

"As a manager he has a reputation as a person who, when given the opportunity, can build a very successful side.

"It is early for him, of course, at Sunderland but in the recent games it is clear he is making his stamp on the club.

"Sunderland will be a really tough opponent today as they are a team clearly improving match by match."

If the Black Cats are in decent fettle, then Liverpool are positively flying.

Liverpool are genuine title contenders and are scoring goals for fun at Anfield – 17 in five games (five more than the Black Cats have mustered home and away).

The Reds hauls have included six last time out against Watford, five against Hull plus four past champs Leicester.
