Little battler Bradley Lowery overjoyed after receiving gift from Sunderland AFC

The five-year-old from Blackhall is battling cancer neuroblastoma for a second time and has been undergoing the latest round of treatment this week.

The brave youngster is said to have been feeling poorly as a result, but thanks to a gift from his heroes at Sunderland AFC his spirits have been lifted.

Mum Gemma Lowery took to his Facebook page to post these adorable photos of Bradley with the balloons from the club.

In a post she said: "Bradley has not been so well last 24 hours and hasn't been awake much, but he was cheered up off some balloons sent from Sunderland AFC.

"He has had a platelet transfusion and is due to get get a blood transfusion on Saturday when his treatment finishes.

"Thank you to everyone for your support, it means a lot and Bradley loves opening his gifts and letters from you lovely people."

But this is not the first time the football fan has been cheered up by the club when in hospital.

Just last month his favourite players came to visit him, with striker Jermain Defoe even cuddling Bradley as he slept.
