Forget Copacabana Beach, scores of wannabe athletes descended on Seaburn Beach for a mini Olympics.
Scores of families and clubs took part in the latest free series of Active Sunderland events, which took place at Seaburn beach and promenade.
Working with partners and sports clubs to deliver the community sports festivals, the aim of programme is to create and deliver as many opportunities as possible for residents to take part in healthy activities and past-times.
Activities included beach rugby, beach volleyball, beach handball, mini golf and RNLI flag races.
The next area festival of the summer will take place on Wednesday, August 17 at Mowbray Park. The festival will once again feature many free activities for all the family.
