Liberal Democrats regain foothold in Sunderland
The Liberal Democrats have won their first seat in Sunderland after being cleared out of the city in 2012.
The city's last Lib Dem councillor, Paul Dixon, lost his seat to Labour's Bob Price in 2012.
At the time, Mr Dixon lashed out at Nick Clegg, blaming Lib Dem MPs' decision to form a coalition Government with the Tories for putting off voters in their droves.
Now the party has had its revenge on Labour in the ward, with Mr Price losing his seat to Niall Hodson.
