A-level students are jumping for joy at Harton 6th Form

Every single student at Harton 6th Form in South Shields scooped at least one A-level pass today, while 99.2% gained two passes and 89.1% took home three.

More than a quarter, 26.9% were awarded three top A-levels A* to B.

Richard Burrows, director of sixth form, said: “Students at Harton 6th Form have again achieved some incredibly strong results and we are delighted that so many students are now able to pursue what they aspired for in the future.

“Many students have secured places at universities across the UK and also in Europe with a significant number gaining places at some of the most prestigious and competitive universities/courses.

“We are very proud of all their achievements and would like to wish all the students the very best in the future and we look forward to seeing them go on to achieve great things.”

Sophie Maccoy now has dreams of becoming a doctor after her envelope of results contained two A*s in chemistry and biology and an A in Maths.

The 18-year-old from Westoe will be studying medicine at Leeds University,

She said: “I haven’t cried yet, but never on this planet did I think I’d get these results.

“I’d like to be a doctor one day, perhaps looking after children I think.”

Courtney Tinnion from Harton, South Shields is off to study anthropology and sociology at Durham University after getting two A*s in English literature and sociology and an A in French.

She said: “I can’t believe this, I’m so happy. I want to be either an author or a researcher, I’m not sure which one yet.”

Eleanor Peggy is also hoping for a medical career after being awarded As in chemistry, English literature and biology.

She’s off to study medicine at Newcastle University.
