Letter of the week: 'Sunderland Council should get own house in order before issuing Â£75 bin fines'

I feel as though I must complain about the recent item in the Sunderland Echo about people getting fined over their bins.

Do you agree with the idea of issuing 75 fines for people who leave their bins out incorrectly?

I have complained a few times about the bins left at the gate in middle of the drive. I have pulled round quite a few times from Durham Road in to my drive on Cairnside and had to get out of my car to move the bins to the side of the gates.

Last week's Letter of the week: Sad to look at ruins of former Sunderland bingo hall and cinemaAs you know Durham Road is a very busy road, there could easily have been an accident.

So have a word with your bin men before you start threatening people with £75 fines (Echo, September 20).
