Letter of the week: Other parts of Sunderland area need Metro stations

Nice to see that Julie Elliott's campaign to get the station in Sunderland upgraded from its dilapidated unwelcoming state finally looks to be coming to fruition.

However, may I suggest she join forces with other local MPs and campaign to get the so-called Tyne and Wear Metro to truly serve the people of Tyne and Wear.

Also read: Light at the end of the tunnel for "unacceptable" Sunderland railway stationThe likes of Hetton, Easington Lane, Houghton, Ryhope and Washington have paid into this system for years and do not have the use of it.

There is a station in almost every district in Newcastle and South Tyneside why not here, Wearside?
