Washington Snooker’s charge for the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League title took a knock when mid-table Biddick A stormed to a 4-1 victory.

Washington started badly with Terry Froud winning the first frame against Norman Leslie.

Steven Tate won the second frame before a 24-break helped Graham Smith win the third frame against Stephen Thompson on the final black.

Roful Hoque pulled one back for Washington before Rod Turnbull/David Adamson won the pairs, beating Norman Leslie/Stephen Thompson 61-12 for an excellent 4-1 win.

The match between second placed Whitburn and Seaham Conservatives B was postponed due to a shortage of players by Seaham and had been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 22.

Gary Stockton got Seaham Conservatives A off to an excellent start at home to The Hetton Centre.

Michael Monaghan’s good form continued against Stephen Rushworth with the aid of a 27 break 63-22 before Paul Nord won the third frame.

Ian Hughes won the fourth frame against Joe Nord before a 23-break by Gary Stockton, when paired with Michael Monaghan, helped win the pairs, beating Paul Stoves/Paul Nord 59-32 for a 4-1 Seaham win.

Pennywell Comrades stormed to a 5-0 victory over Biddick B, thanks to Joe Turner, Dean Taylor, Anthony Longstaff and Andrew Doran.

In the pairs, Stuart Taylor/Ian McDermott beat Peter Mills/Paul Cobb 44-28 to complete the clean sweep.

Glendale welcomed Steels and got off to a good start with Thomas Gwyn winning the first frame before Lee Norton levelled the match.

Jimmy Gales won a close third frame before Vince Flynn potted well to beat Paul Atkinson on the final black 62-56.

In the pairs, John Danby/John Wiseman beat Ray Charlton Senior/Tommy Ayre 63-33 to reduce the Glendale defeat to 3-2.

Glen Edwards/Andrew Drinkwater won the pairs beating John Spruce/Lee Dixon 73-18 for the 4-1 win.

Gerry Porter continued his excellent form for The Victory winning the fist frame away at Murton Colliery, but Stephen Cook quickly levelled.

John Butler moved The Victory back into the lead before Darren Dowell won the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Eddie Williamson/Stephen Cook pulled on back for Murton, beating Ray James/Darren Dowell 63-20, reducing the defeat to 3-2.
