A County Durham solicitor has taken the sponsorship plunge.

Gordon Brown Law Firm has embarked on a year-long sponsorship deal to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Chester-le-Street Amateur Swimming Club (ASC).

Gordon Brown, which has offices in Chester-le-Street and Newcastle, is sponsoring the club throughout this year.

Wendy Frame, residential conveyancing team leader at Gordon Brown, is also the club secretary at Chester-le-Street ASC.

She said: “Our swimmers perform extremely well with the water time and facilities that are available to them, however the cost of pool hire is continually increasing.

“I teach at the club on a voluntary basis and my children also train there, so it’s extremely rewarding to be able to give back to an organisation I feel so passionate about.

“Gordon Brown is dedicated to investing in the local community, so this is the perfect fit.”

Head coach Gary Renshaw said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the commitment from the team at Gordon Brown Law Firm, which will prove invaluable in helping us towards our ambitious plans.

“This year, six of our swimmers are attending the Beacon Programme, compared to three last year. We’re already the best club in County Durham, but we’re aiming to be best in the North East and even in England.”

The sponsorship will let the club extend the number of swimming sessions, organise targeted swimming courses and eventually a swimming camp to boost the development of young talent.
