A MAN has died after a car crash in Sunderland.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the smash in Ashdale in Mount Pleasant last night.

Officers were called out at 8.56pm and found a Suzuki car had crashed into three parked vehicles on a driveway.

A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

A 23-year-old man also suffered serious injuries and is at the RVI in Newcastle in a critical condition.

Two men aged 25 and 34 were arrested in connection with the collision. The 25-year-old is being treated for injuries at Sunderland Royal Hospital. The other was uninjured.

The road was re-opened at 4.25am following investigation and vehicle recovery.

Police said enquiries into the incident are in the early stages as officers try to establish exactly what happened.

They are appealing for witnesses to contact them as soon as possible on 101 ext 69191 for the attention of the Road Safety Unit.
