A CRICKET club has ben bowled over by a £13,000-plus grant.
Durham City Cricket Club will receive the cash from the multi-million-pound Biffa Award fund, towards nets which will allow new grass wickets in the training area to be used by youngsters from the club and schools.
President Bryan Stone said: “The installation of a dedicated grass net training area is, to the best of our knowledge, a first for a club in the region.
“This magnificent facility will permit players, young and old, to develop their skills in conditions identical to actual playing conditions. We are most grateful to Biffa Award for making this possible.”
Cath Hare, Biffa Award acting programme manager, added: “Projects like this are incredibly important for local communities, which is why we look to invest in them.”
