Lamine Kone to train with Sunderland today as agent confirms he is available for Manchester City game
Everton target Lamine Kone was due back in training this morning - and is available for selection against Manchester City.
The 27-year-old is understood to have been on Merseyside on Monday with a view to completing an £18million move to Everton after failing to receive a new contract offer he was expecting.
But the Ivory Coast international is back on Wearside and will train as normal at the Academy of Light today ahead of the opening Premier League game against City on Saturday teatime.
Kone's agent, Mark McKay has confirmed the centre-back will re-join his team-mates on Wearside following a scheduled day off.
McKay said: "Lamine Kone will be at training with Sunderland [Wednesday] and is available, if selected, for Sunderland's game with Manchester City [on Saturday].
"However, he still awaits the offer of the new contract."
Sunderland have moved for Manchester United duo Paddy McNair and Donald Love after refusing to let Kone leave before lining up replacements.
The Black Cats are understood to have agreed a combined £5.5million fee for the 21-year-old defenders as David Moyes looks to bolster his defensive options.
Sunderland have spent £8million on Chelsea centre-back Papy Djilobodji but face losing key defender Kone to Everton in an £18million deal.
