GET on your marks for a sneak peek around an enigmatic estate.
The Earl of Durham’s Lambton Estate, near Bournmoor, is rarely open to the public.
But each year it throws open its doors for a fun run.
The Lambton 10k and 3k returns this year on June 21 and will once again raise thousands of pounds for SAFC charity, the Foundation of Light.
Entries are now open for the charity’s fifth annual run, which takes place through the grounds of the exclusive estate – the setting for BBC period drama The Paradise.
Jemma Garrett, Foundation of Light’s events co-ordinator, said: “The Lambton Estate is one of the most secret iconic locations in the North of England and we are absolutely delighted it will host our fifth annual Lambton Run.
“The event offers something for everyone; the 10k event is perfect for those training towards the Great North Run while the 3k fun run is ideal for families and runners of all ages, mobility and experience.”
The 10k course attracts almost 700 club and recreational runners and passes alongside the magnificent Lambton Castle, while the 3k Junior Black Cats Fun Run offers a less challenging alternative for young children and families.
To celebrate the event’s fifth year, the Foundation of Light will be giving out spot prizes on the day, including signed Sunderland AFC memorabilia and much more.
Prices for the Lambton 10k run start from £14 per person with places in the 3k fun run starting from £8. To book your place, or for more information, visit lambton.foundationoflight.co.uk, Tel. 551 5191 or email email@example.com.
