WEARSIDERS are being asked to play a part in keeping the city safe this Bonfire Night.
As well as ensuring wheelie bins are put away after collections this week, residents are being asked to report illegal bonfires and illegally sold fireworks.
Coun John Kelly, portfolio holder for safer city and culture, said: “Residents are reminded not to leave out any materials that could potentially be used for bonfires and to make proper arrangements for their disposal.
“The council and its partners will be looking out for such materials in public areas and removing them to prevent their use on bonfires.”
To report fireworks being sold illegally or illegal bonfire on public land, phone the Neighbourhood Helpline on 0300 1000 101.
