Keep Chester-le-Street park tidy

Have your say

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to cut down on dog mess and rubbish in a park as the summer holidays begin.

Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street welcomes thousands of families during the break, with Durham County Council hoping its efforts to crackdown on fouling and littering will make their visit as pleasant as possible.

Dog walkers who used the park on Saturday were encouraged to sign up to a green ownership scheme, with goody bags handed to the first 30 who pledged their support, and microchipping also offered by Stray Aid.

A competition has been launched to encourage people to put their litter in a bin, rather than drop it on the ground, with the challenge to run until September 4.
