Kayakers rescued after getting into difficulty off the coast at Blackhall

Emergency crews were called out to reports of three kayakers in difficulty off the coast Blackhall on Saturday.

Volunteers from Hartlepool RNLI were called at 12.58pm on Saturday, June 27 by Humber Coastguard to assist three kayakers reported to be in difficulty in the water.

The inshore lifeboat was first on the scene, where crews were able to rescue the kayakers and return them safely to the beach at Crimdon.

A spokesperson for Hartlepool RNLI said: “The all-weather lifeboat Betty Huntbatch and inshore lifeboat Solihull launched at 1.10pm with the inshore lifeboat first to arrive at the scene of the incident.”The crews retrieved the kayakers and their boats and returned them to the beach at Crimdon where they had originally launched from, and were met there by the local Coastguard team. The kayakers were safe and well.“Sea state was slight with intermittent rain showers and variable visibility.”
