This week the candidates were charged with choosing, securing and selling pet products at the London Pet Show.
This task was all about understanding the potential customer, their needs and wants, and then choosing the right product to fit.
It was also about getting the right deal with the product vendor and showing passion for their product.
After three tasks, my favourite candidate so far this year has been Ruth.
I’ve loved her quirkiness and willingness to get mucked in and get her hands dirty, so I was disappointed to see her perform so poorly in a task where her background as a sales trainer should have seen her shine (you’ve really got to listen to your customer to be a good seller!).
After tonight’s task I’ve decided Selina needs to ditch her attitude and take a leaf out of David’s book and be more energised!
Scott has great potential, he is confident, personable and a solid team player, but needs to be more decisive.
The big business lessons from this week’s task are:
* Know your customer inside out and back to front
* Be decisive and own your decisions
* Be excited about every aspect of your business
After Lord Sugar fired Ruth, David is now my front runner due to his decisiveness and infectious energy.
