Junior cricket: Under-15s derby thrill as Wearmouth chase down big Whitburn total

Wearmouth outgunned Whitburn by eight wickets in their DCB Under-15s North East Division Don Lyons Trophy tie.

Elliott Hearn (55) and Oliver Coates (26) led Whitburn to 121-5, with Lewis Smillie striking twice.

Lewis Thompson (25), Smillie (19) and McGonnell (22) were among the runs as Wearmouth eased home with 10 balls to spare.

Hetton Lyons beat Eppleton (67-7) by nine wickets in their Central Division Ken Ferguson Cup clash. Hollie Forsyth (21) led Eppleton as Alex Dreze plundered 3-1, then Sam Riddle’s unbeaten 50 steered Lyons to victory.

Sunderland (108-1) defeated Burnmoor (107-3).

Eppleton Under-11s beat Littletown by 15 runs, with Tyler Beston (19) and Luke Johnson (12) starring.
